Monarchy? Isn’t that some kind of tourist attraction?

So does this mean that if I have a CFA I can do a PHD without needing a masters? What are the implications?

Freakshow Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So does this mean that if I have a CFA I can do a > PHD without needing a masters? What are the > implications? You don’t need a masters to do a Phd anyway. If you can get approval into the program you can do a Phd with just an undergrad degree.

The qualification system in the UK is about as intuitive as a rubik’s cube. I don’t think I will ever quite grasp the significance of these NQF numbers. I understand that certain levels are required for certain jobs, but it is next to impossible to find a description of what jobs require what levels… The usual BS European bureaucracy that I have come to despise…

Does that mean that the CFA institute will recognize that a Masters degree in finance is equivalent to the CFA?

Oh I just emailed the CFA Institute the same question and will post a rely when received.

I don’t think so, flynnch. I’m fairly sure that the point of the exercise would be to make sure that the CFA designation is acceptable as a masters equivalent for people on Tier 1 - highly skilled migrant visas in the UK. They changed the laws earlier this year that made the min. educational requirement a masters degree or equivalent and so all the professional bodies have been trying to get their qualifications recognised by NARIC as masters equivalents.

Forgit about UK-UK is bust

Good news for would-be immigrant. Not so for the residents perhaps?

" …Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry about the CFA Program. The CFA Program and obtaining the CFA Charter is comparable to a master’s degree in finance within the English Qualification and Credit Framework by the National Recognition Information Centre (UK NARIC), the UK National Agency responsible for providing information, advice and expert opinion on vocational, academic and professional skills and qualifications. A masters degree in Finance is not necessarily equivalent to the CFA Program, rather it is comparable to a masters degree in Finance. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us…" There you go.

“A masters degree in Finance is not necessarily equivalent to the CFA Program, rather it is comparable to a masters degree in Finance.” Is that a real quote from a CFA Institute employee? As written, it is completely nonsensical. I think I know what they are trying to say but it’s so badly worded it’s hard to know for sure. Also one possible implication of the CFA being considered equivalent to a masters degree would be for government employees. Many public sector jobs have higher pay scales for people with higher degrees.

Yes it is a direct quote…I get “it” but I was a little unsure at first what “it” referred to. That makes sense about the pay scale for Master’s

“A masters degree in Finance is not necessarily equivalent to the CFA Program, rather it is comparable to a masters degree in Finance.” LOL FDC…I read the sentence again and only then did I realize what “it” was.
