Somebody was joking the other day that we might see a spike in births within the year following the virus stay-at-home period, similar to when we have seen a spike in births after major snowstorms, power outages and similar events historically.
While I can see that this makes sense, I think it only tells half the story. I believe we may see a mini-surge in the divorce rate as well, as being forced to be quarantined with your significant other (especially if there are children involved, compounding stresses) cause already existing rifts between couples to be exacerbated by the lack of going to work, going golfing, going to bars, movies, restaurants, etc. as pressure release valves.
