What are your tips on absolutely bludgeoning an interview (in a good way). Lets hear it: from how to look your best to what questions to ask. This will be AF’s resource on how to crush it while landing that coveted job. Immaculate grooming, suave attitude, smooth rendition. Its what makes an interviewer want you badly. What color short, tie, socks? To be proactive or reactive? Salary negotiations. And much more.
Dark Suit, White Shirt, Sharp Tie (not too crazy), Polished Shoes Eye Contact, Smile, Firm Handshake Try to be inquisative as possible to bring out what they are looking for. The more they talk the better. If you have an interview you have the pedigree they are looking for, now make them like you because let’s face it, we probably spend more time with our co-workers than we do our families. Have a good understanding of thier business, philosophy, etc.
Be enthusiastic. Near the end of the interview, say something to the extent of, “Everything sounds great, can you tell me how we progress from here?”
Maybe we could combine this all together and write a book about it. There must be a gap in the market for this sort of thing…
No jewelery, no cologne
Answer all questions asked brilliantly.
I believe having a list of about five really great questions is key. Not stupid basic questions, but thoughtful, critically reasoned questions that will really impress the interviewer that you have done your homework, not just looked at the website.

i do well in interviews. but i want to crush it to get the salary i want.
General rules - Dress clean cut and formal, smile, always look the person in the eye, don’t smell, use your hands when you talk to articulate, have a “pitch” ready and a joke or two, ALWAYS BE POLITE. Be genuinely interested in the job and position. Show your strengths and how your prior experience, education, and future career goals relate to the position. Have a joke on hand that relates to the job that shows you are knowledge about the industry/company/position. The key is getting people to like you.
Good advice re: the jokes, I like to have some ethnic jokes on hand, just in case I get an interviewer who isn’t the same race as me. It shows my knowledge about the industry/company/position. The key is getting people to like me.
Know your stuff.
Make a list of all possible questions you think you could be asked and prepare answers for them. Try and break them into groups (i.e. personal questions, eductation, work experience, character assessment etc). You should be able to come up with a list of 100 or so quite easily. Practise saying them out loud. You don’t want to be caught unawares on the day. If it all goes well, you shouldn’t answer any question in the interview you haven’t already thought up the answer to. Questions like what’s your favourite investment book, how important is money to you, how do you feel about working long hours, what’s the most surprising thing that ever happened to you etc should be expected and rehearsed. You can find interview books in any book shop that will have lists of these common questions. If you happen to get one that stumps you, don’t make um or eh sounds. Take a couple of seconds and say something like “you know, that’s a good question, I’ve never really though about it before” before answering. Buy yourself time. Obviously practise the obvious work related questions too. Whether that be recommend a stock, how do you value this instrument, how do you calculate X etc. Also have read through a list of common interview brainteasers. So basically just prepare for every possible eventuality you can imagine. What you wear is important but unless you wear something just plain stupid you are unlikely to be rejected for your appearance. You want to appear confident and well spoken. If you are naturally quiet or shy then as I said, practise your answers out loud. Do it in front of a friend. You can even have yourself videotaped and watch it back. That can be very useful for noticing things like whether you are making any nervous twitches with your hands or looking to the ground a lot and so on. Apologies for writing that as a stream of concience style reply, but you get the idea of what I’m trying to say.

Do your homework, do tons of research on the company you are interviewing with…find insight, their strengh & weakenss…then incorporate those facts into questions about how you can fill those gaps.
