topical test-really helpful and how important?

hi all, I have not started the topical test but have been focusing on the EOC practices, I realize now there are so many of them, I wonder if this will take a siginificant amount of time for me to finish and if yes, should I just pick one for each topic? I am thinking of focusing on eoc practices and mocks for the last 50 days

Thanks for any feedback

I took the test last year and failed with a band 10. Here’s my take. The core of your studies should be around doing EOCs and blue boxes understanding the topics.

The topic tests are actually just from their old mock exams they used before so they are definately worth doing, they really test your ability to think and find information within the question to solve the answer.

Also for many of you don’t worry if you’re doing poorly on the topic tests, the real test will be written more clearly and tell you exactly what they want but may have a few tricks if you don’t fully grasp the understanding of a topic.

The EOCs too many of them are too plain and not complicated but they do build a good foundation for your knowledge.

Hope this helps good Luck!

thank you, i wonder in terms of mock tests, where do people find those mostly?

If time is an issue, I’d do the topics questions over the EOCs, but going through both is ideal. For the mocks, CFAI offers one full mock as part of your exam package. For more, you’ll need to turn to study prep providers. I bought Schweser’s standalone mock exam package this year. I believe it was $140 for 3 full mocks.

Konvexity.com also offers some free Item Sets here if you have the time for more practice: http://www.konvexity.com/free-resources

Maybe what you mean is practice exam ? as far as i know schweser mock exam is only 1 ($100).

The practice exams packages are actually the mocks that come with their Premium and Notes packages, purchased separately. Each volume has 3 full exams that follow the Level II exam format (item sets and 120 questions between morning and afternoon sessions). I leafed through the book (I ordered the hard copy book as it better simulates sitting for the exam somewhat) and the item sets leave a bit to be desired in terms of depth and length, but they are indeed practice mocks.

The $100 mock is a live online exam at a specific time and date.

yes schweser had 2 volume practice exams.

mock also available on pdf format (same like live version).

I got an email today via these forums about a practice mock exam available from The Boston Security Analysts Society for $149. Does anyone have any experience with this one?
