total money spent on level 2

Just curious what everyone has spent on level 2. This is cost including cfa registration, sample exams, pencils, calculators, paper, hotels if needed, third party provider like schweser, stalla, etc… Let’s not include our opportunity cost. I am close to $2200.

Cost of calculator and pencils is it so far thankfully…Scholarship from local CFA chapter for level I and level II (first)…my employer paid for level II, second try. I think local CFA chapter scholarships are very underutilized…or I assume so because I applied on the last day two years in a row and got it. I only use CFA material…

The registration fee was about $1000. Then $900 spent on a Schweser study package and $100 later on their flashcards so it’s about $2100. But if I passed my company will reimburse everything (as did in level 1)

$2500 all in, but get fully reimbursed if I pass, (fingers crossed for a pass and new laptop)!

my company sucks, doesnt pay a penny

$0. company paid for everything.

$700 to CFAI $450 Accounting Workshop $350 Hotels $300 Airfare ~$1,800 all in Will get reimbursed for some of I pass. The sample exams are a huge waste of money imo. I bought one last year and it was such a joke that I swore them off forever.

John Harris www.accountingworkshops.com He does a wonderful job explaining the FRA curriculum for L2. His study materials were incredible as well. I only used the FRA CFAI text to answer EOC questions and then used his text for everything else. I scored <50 in FRA last year. Of the 6 mocks I took this year I was averaging an 86 in the FRA section. I was actually glad to get to the FRA vignettes on the exam thanks to the workshop and his materials. Definitely a difference maker.

Agree with samples as well. Such waste of money. Total around 2,500 company reimburse if pass.

Think about all the money saved by not going out during the past 6 months… that should more than out weigh the cost spent on exam… I know I saved thousands and thousands by not going out, not playing golf, etc…

Unfortunately this was offset by the increase in monies spent on hookers to cover the lack of drunk girls found while going out.

$700 to CFA $800 to stella $120 for practice/sample exams etc. Total: $1620

Saved at least $2K not going out and probably would’ve taken a trip at some point.

This will choke some people up My company pays when I pass in the meantime they lend me money at nearly zero percent on a 5 year amort. $3500 for a U of Toronto course. ( do get to retake if I fail for free or a nominal amount). $700 to CFAI $200 - Parking for the weekly course and throughout the study time at various libraries. $500 gas (approx) $500 (food when out of the house that I would normally not spend) So that is about $5400.00 ! FML

$700 or so to CFA. $50 to join CFA Society of UK $100 or so on some iPad apps That’s about it. And yeah, probably saved a bit by not going out as much…although with a little boy at home, it’s not like we were going out all that much anyway…

$700 to CFA $200 for used Schweser 2009 books/videos $50 for Elan Eleventh Hour guide So, $950 total. No direct reimbursement by the company, but my raise will be many multiples of that amount if I passed. Probably save some money by taking no vacations, buying no video games, etc. I think my caffeine and liquor spending definitely went up though since I was constantly trying to balance staying up to study with getting some decent sleep so I could get up early and study.

I checked into a hotel for a week, plus air fare, that alone is over $1500!

600 to CFAI. 2 USD for having a cup of tea and a half pack of snaks Got a lift to exam centre! 35 USD for Schweser Notes 15 USD for Schweser Mock (which i didnt take) Total 642

just curious, what kind of job reimburse for CFA exams? equity research? portfolio management?
