Uppermark materials

I’m planning to purchase the Uppermark preparation course for the Sept exam. From what I see on their website they have the choice of regular suite, premium suite and platinum suite packages. The differences of the premium suite compared to regular suite is it comes with the flashcards and studychart, but for an additional $100! I don’t think I’ll care much about the study chart, but what exactly are the flashcards and are they really useful and worth the additional $100? I’m also wondering how many people go for the grand salami and ordered the platinum suite. Seems like they’re running a sale on that package now and it costs $899 for the online version, a $100 cheaper that the original price. Is anyone ever taken the weekly review courses (either online or live) and is it really worth it? TIA

peteus325, I placed an order for the platinum suite about a month ago. I haven’t heard anything from Uppermark since then. I switched from Schweser’s using its level I product to Uppermark’s level II due to its reputation and focus on CAIA material. (Schweser tend to oversimplify difficult quant concept as I experienced from Schweser’s FRM product, I did resort to FRM handbook and Bionic Turtle to cover the inadequacy. I believe Uppermark could be potentially an one stop for everything.) I do need some help with the convertible arbitrage. It has many hedging concepts with very brief explanation. The book doesn’t even get into details how to come up with the numbers. I posted some questions to the blog but seemed no one bothers with that … a bit disappointed on the lack of professionalism here.

So you haven’t had any experience with its online/live review sessions nor did you hear any goods or bads things about that either correct? Well, this forum seems to be a lot quieter than the CFA which is understandable. Hopefully given it time it’ll have more traffic. Btw, did you rely exclusively on the Schweser’s materials when you’re preparing for the level I exam? Did you purchased the suggested ‘text’ books as a supplement?

Due to the time constraint, (After FRM result released on 01/15 and I struggled for about two weeks the costs and value of CAIA. I decided to pursue CAIA and I received the material on early February. I took the exam at the end of March) I just used Schweser material for the level I. I did find some information in this blog about the pros of Uppermark and cons of Schweser. I called up Uppermark and I was quite impressed. I did purchased the curriculum and I’ve found the “convertible arbitrage” book is a bit not detail enough explaining different types of hedging. I knew quite many people passed CAIA level II with Schweser and I aimed not just to pass but to learn. I will definitely use the Uppermark resources for this purpose. (I was very impressed and satisfied with Bionic Turtle for the FRM and 7City for the CFA level III in this aspect) CAIA level II has quite a deep content we can dig if we want to!

i barely touched the flashcards last year in level 1… so i bought the basic suite which includes just the books and testbank (and maybe some other random stuff? i forgot…). So yeah, don’t bother w/ the extra $100… obviously if the company is paying for it, just go ahead.
