What are your top forums?

Hey guys,

So as of 2013, what do you guys use for advice on career development and talk with an international community of business professionals.

Top 3 for myself:

1- Analyst Forum , lots of info regarding finance, lots of very smart people, and charterholders stick around so there is really a sense of community.

2- Wall Street Oasis - Very good forums for all areas related to finance

3- GMAT club; lots of info on different career paths, and its super well organized.

4- Quora - not getting that good of a response rate lately but it does attract people form all areas of business.

Analyst Forum takes enough time by itself.

I find it hilarious you mentioned Wall Street Oasis.

People complain about AF being too “elitist”, WSO makes it childsplay.

you have people complaining that a 740 gmat score is too low. and people asking things like “I went to Ivy league school, with a 3.7GPA and internships at IB, ER etc… what are my chances of a full time offer?”

Here in AF, we get "i have nothing, but i’m taking the CFA L1, can I get in? oh. yes I have passion for finance though. "

^ should I roll up and regulate?

Ahah yeah, WSO is retarded… there’s a few good reads on there in the blogs, but the posters are a bunch or royal dickwads. Free resume review is handy though, as long as you’ve got thick skin.

^Think they’d let me register as a proud black man? Or is it a WASPY, Caucasion, Christian, Aryan Race, Card Carrying Members of White Shoe Ancestry with an exclusion for Hebrews/Jews for their money changing ability?

Here’s a perfect example of how pompous those a**es are at WSO:

Front page today this article:

http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/did-i-screw-up-chose-barclays-over-lazard

Guy says he got 8 full time job offers at a bunch of elite investment banks. Then he asks if he messed up by “choosing barclays over lazard”.

^ just read it. Hilarious

I should copy my Oxy thread over yhere

AnalystForum, SumZero…

Used to post on WallStreetOasis but the signal to noise ratio is off the charts (in the wrong direction)

AF and reddit take up all my online time

CvM, why don’t you post your Power of Oneness thread over there? Those colons could use some cleaning.

^can someone do that for me? WSO doesn’t allow minorities on their forum.

Stack Exchange Forums! Quantitative Finance, Math, LINUX, and Programming (C++) forums. Very active and high quality. No garbage.

http://quant.stackexchange.com/

http://math.stackexchange.com/

http://stackoverflow.com/

http://unix.stackexchange.com/

For less technical stuff, like career and educational adivce, I use QuantNet.

I think my career goals are probably different from many people pursuing the CFA charter, but there are tons of different stack exchange forums. You could probably find ones that are more useful for you!
