Im looking to see a range of scores based on the fact that you all have passed, sitting for level 1 on june 2nd and considering pushing it back to december?
so far ive taken 4 half schweser practice tests, scores: 63, 64, 73, 65
i have a friend who passed lv 1 last year and he said he took one test the night before, got a 68, and passed all levels with higher than a 70…but im noticing other people’s scores and many are averaging higher…any insight or personal stories?
Sorry to derail anyone but i figured id ask those with experience…
i was scoring above 80 on my last 4 mocks. passed easily. in retrospect, had i been scoring 75 going into thereal thing, i would have passed comfortably as well.
you are borderline for now, but still 9 days to go!
I took BSAS and Schweser Live Mocks and scored 60~70% if I recall correctly. I was surprised because I was crushing all other mocks (CFAI mock + Schweser NON-live mocks). On exam day, I killed every section.
FWIW, I think the BSAS mocks are just not written very well. I took it again this year for L2 and I just don’t think it’s too comparable to CFA exams.
This is “analyst forum” syndrome – when you compare yourself to a bunch of strangers who may/may-not be lying about their actual scores/progress. This is YOU vs. Level 1. At this point you should be familiar enough with the material to know your strengths and weaknesses. Focus on improving your weak spots without this time adversely impacting your strengths (there’s only so much you can cram) and you’ll be fine.
For what it’s worth I got 58’s-68 on all my Mocks on level one and got > 70% on every subject other than AI (Didn’t crack the books/review one problem for this). Exam day is a totally different animal from practice. You’ll be amazed at what you recall – and a little annoyed at some of the layups you forget.
Don’t benchmark yourself against the nerds on this site – you’ll stress yourself out trying to compare yourself to someone that’s been studying for 9 months and aiming for 100%.
this really helps thanks guys…after avg 80s on the bank questions i got a little startled by the practice exams…I wonder why they make them such a pain, some of the questions literally deal with terms that were one random line in the notes…
mid 80’s in practice, > 70 on everything on the exam. I felt that the exam was easier than the Schweser practice exams I was doing, which would explain why others scored pretty solidly below 70 in practice, and solidly above 70 on the actual exam.
I did the Dec 2010 level 1…Averaged mid-70’s on the CFAI mocks and got >70 on every topic on the exam. I remember thinking the exam was much easier then the mocks, hoping for the same thing on level 2.
I took one mock two days before the exam and scored 69%. What really helped me pass level 1 on my first attempt was that I focussed on really learning the concepts, because I knew I had no chance of passing if I randomly solved questions. Really worked for me. I watched elan videos, did EOC’s and a few practice questions. I got >70% on six topics and >50% and <70% on four (ethics, econ, fixed, FRA). I am sure this will definitely not help me pass level 2. I am aiming to fit in atleast 10 mocks in my schedule.
In level 1, I failed twice. First band 4 and second time band 9. I only took one or two mocks I can’t really remember, and I didn’t go through my answers, and my marks usually in the 50’s
In the third time when I passed, I took three mocks and my mark always end of 60’s. In my opinion no matter what you score is not as important as to take those mocks as a way to know what are your weak areas and it will be better if you mark each sections and focuse on those which you are weak and has large weight. Also I think it is good if you do several CFA mock exams .
