I’ve currently got it listed along the lines of this, but think it needs an upgrade. Any suggestions? Chartered Financial Analyst Broad program covers portfolio management, ethics, derivatives, quantitative methods, equity valuation, debt, corporate finance and financial statement analysis.
CFA, YAUD
Do you feel the need to write out what it covers though? I could see doing so for non-finance jobs where they’ve no idea of what the CFA is. I’ve just got “CFA level 2 candidate” listed on my resume.
Are you a Charter holder or a Candidate? Might want to tighten up the optics on this somewhat murky point. Then, I would just describe the program as accurately as possible, use AIMRs site: “The Chartered Financial Analyst [CFA] program is a self-study, graduate-level program for investment professionals that requires the sequential passage of three levels of examination, fulfilment of professional work experience and agreement to abide by a rigorous code of ethics and culminates in the award of the CFA Charter”. Willy
would not include a description of it, ever. if you need to describe it, it has no pull in the interview or your chances for the job.
I have a line that says CFA Program (or something like that) and then something like passed first two exams (I would have level three candidate but I’m not taking the exam).

Yeah - I don’t have the charter yet, but do not plan to describe it on my resume when (if) attained.
CFA Level 3 candidate …that’s it. But my CV is old as I don’t plan on changing jobs in the near future!

So what, you’re still a LIII candidate. Pimp your CVs guys…

It clearly says in the code of ethics if you’re not signed up for the exam or awaiting result you are not considered a candidate and therefore cannot claim to be a CFA level 3 candidate.
ohhhhhhh. burn. check yo text!
Hmm. Thought maybe referencing a few choice terms would help recruiters (think HR here) with some neat word association plus provide a structure / entry points for an interviewer. Especially if you are leveraging into a new area. But then again, maybe just plain ole CFA will do the trick.
Yep, that’s precisely why I don’t have it. I’m not interviewing anyway, so it’s not like it matters. floor_filler Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > woolv Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > artvandalay Wrote: > > > -------------------------------------------------- > > > ----- > > > I have a line that says CFA Program (or > > something > > > like that) and then something like passed > first > > > two exams (I would have level three candidate > > but > > > I’m not taking the exam). > > > > So what, you’re still a LIII candidate. With all due respect, I’m writing Level I Dec 09 and after reading through Level I ethics I can’t believe people still ask questions on this forum about how to put it on your resume.
On the first line of the CV it says " Neud, CFA"

They are not asking what they are allowed to put, they are asking if they should describe it. I wasn’t a smart@$$ before I passed LI or LII, so you shouldn’t lest you be discriminated against. Only LIII candidates+ can rule this forum with smugness and stupid comments. What, what! Pour one out for my fallen homies… CFAVirginhooker, etc.
Those who understand what CFA stands for, don’t need you waste their time reading for the description - as they do know it very well anyway. Those who don’t know, will not be impressed in the slightest, and you shouldn’t be targeting them anyway.
Another question: On the top of your resume you write: First Last, CFA But do you also add a line in the body mentioning it again such as: Obtained Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in August 2010
CFA level 2 candidate. I have it listed at the end under “Other” along with programming skills.
topher Wrote: ----------------------------------------------------- > But do you also add a line in the body mentioning > it again such as: > > Obtained Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) > designation in August 2010 Trying to foresee the date you may receive the charter in the future is a clear violation of Code of Ethics, man Aug 2010 doesn’t fly
