Hi, I know the question seems like a terribly stupid one, however I can’t get my head around after browsing through several efinancialcareer job ads. Generally, there are two types of investment strategist (IS). The first one is the standard IS, making asset allocation calls by assessing macro parameters. Normally, you will need someone like this in a more developed fund. The person steers the big direction of the fund. The second type works closely with the product team and alongside CIO to respond to market demand, not necessarily client demand. Can anyone help me on this? or share some first hand experience on what you do if you are an investment strategist. Cheers,
What you describe is what a fer-real strategist does. What you are seeing on eFinancial Careers is most likely a private bank brokerage job.
I’m not sure if I understand you. The second one is actually BlackRock, the asset management arm.

Our strategists help our buy side clients connect the dots from macro headlines to asset classes and securities. They sort of bridge the teritory between economist and analyst/trader. They can help formulate an opinion or help the buy side express an opinion
