CFA institute Books but I failed but still prefer them
Only CFA Books recommended and previous papers as much as you can!!
I have used Schweaser, Stalla, and Elan for Levels I & II and can tell you that they all have strengths and weaknesses but I am leaning towards Schweaser for Level III. What do you think?
Definitely CFAI textbooks. no course can replace the quality of the textbooks, that is my opinion.

I used schweser (just books, no courses at all) for 1 and 2 and they were fantastic. on friends’ recomendations i used CFA books for Level 3 and attended Creighton Bootcamp in Omaha wiht LeFebvre. Passed all 3 exams in 18months and would not have passed level 3 without LeFebvre. It wasnt just a course, it was an entire roadmap for your last month.
It’s quite misleading to say using CFA books is the best because you used them. The key to passing isn’t about which books you are using, but rather the efficient use of your time + lots of mock exams. I used Schweser materials for Level 3 while managing 70 hours work week. There was no way I could have had any time to read the thick books from CFA Institute, although I’ve supplemented my study with EoC questions from them. I passed AM with mostly above 70 and PM with all above 70 except Ethics.
he asked the “best” way and for Level 3, most opinions are that CFA texts are better. If you have a 70 hour work week, finding time to study at all is impressive and shortcuts are needed. but Schweser IS a shortcut for level 3. with the first two its less shortcut and more “streamlined”.
The problem with CFA books is time constraints, and the more time you spend on reading the less on practicing.
CFA ANALYST, you obviously passed levels 1 and 2 using either CFAI text books or another provider. If I was you I would stick with this tried and tested winning strategy.
For what its worth I used Schweser all the way through.
Will you get the hard of soft copy of the CFAI books? I personally can’t study with the soft copy.

I agree, although I used them in level II and didn’t pass the first time, but I think I will use the for Level III and hopefully better results this time.
Elan doesn’t do Level III.
Schweser books and - as for me - very important: Schweser flashcards.
And of course, in the last 2-3 weeks before the exam, do as many mock exams as possible.
