Hi, I’m about to order Schweser’s study package, and start studying for level I June 2013. But for several reasons, I can’t register for the exam right now. I’m deffering that till after newyear. Do I get to call myself a CFA candidate now? Can I write that in my CV and online professional references (e.g. on linkedin, recruitment sites, etc) before registering with CFAI? Thanks
NO. you cannot call yourself a CFA candidate until you paid CFAInstitute and are officially registered to take the L1 exam.
Yeah basically, you are only a candidate after you pay money.
Thanks guys
Part of paying for the exam is paying to join the institute. I think you can however right on your resume that you intend to write level 1 in June or whatever, though I don’t know how much “intent” counts in that situation.
Once you shell the dough you are a candidate. You have to be registered for an exam.
Not a candidate until you pay the fees and get confirmation from CFAI.
Don’t write that you intend on writing the exam, its kinda irrelevant. That would be kinda like completing an application to B-school and then writing on your resume that you are a “MBA applicant” haha. Just wait until you are a candidate and then put it on.
