I’m in my first job out of college and looking to make a switch and become a buyside analyst. The problem is I don’t even know where to look… I don’t see many relevant postings, recruiters haven’t responded to my emails and I don’t live in a major finance city like NY (but open to moving).
Can you guys share any strategies for finding new jobs?
Not that different than finding jobs in other fields. Check all the usual job posting sites. Make a list of every place you would work, if offered (which, in NYC is probably several hundred firms) and monitor their websites for job postings. And, most importantly, network. Go to CFA events. Go anywhere you can rub elbows with buysiders.
That’s about it. I’m not big on spamming resumes or cold calling HR, but those are other options too.
