Whisky

lololol no I mean what kind would you pick if money was no object

ie The Macallan Lalique 62 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Speyside – Highlands ~ $30K

Oh. Hmm. I’m not really sure, but if it was to come to something I actually know a little about, wine, and the choices were between a my absolute favorite, which is ~$45 per bottle, and something famous and extravagant (some rothschild or opus one or something), I’d probably go with the extravagant thing, just to try it out and see what all the hype was about. But I doubt I’d really enjoy it much more, if at all. Your point is taken though, particularly re: the people for whom money is no object.

I just flew to and from Japan on ANA in business class. There they serve Hibiki 17 which is effing delicious. It’s a ~$250 bottle if you can even find it, which based off my local searching is not really possible. I had the pleasure of enjoying it neat, followed by rocks and water because I enjoyed the neat too quickly…

They serve The Hakushu Single Malt in their business class lounge at Narita which is also very nice. It’s not aged, and as such carries a more pedestrian ~$50 price per bottle, but is also worth drinking. Nothing says 10am like ordering food from the noodle bar and pouring a drink from a $50 bottle of liquor.

You, my good sir, are a krazy kanuck.

^do you even Mad Men bro?

:+1: Having tried both myself I can attest that those are some excellent choices.

How foolish of me. Of course you’re right. I’m just not advanced enough yet to have thought of that.

I don’t see anything wrong with that personally. Airports and airplanes are fair game.

Ha OK, I don’t think it’s an issue unless it’s affecting your work product and that’s be pretty hard to do when the job you’re supposed to be doing is sitting in a chair in a plane. But still… Am I the only one who holds to the noon rule?

It’s not uncommon for us to have a beer at lunch here at work, which often occurs 11:30am ish, so violates your rule slightly.

Yeah if you’re in an airport or on an airplane, it’s 5 o clock somewhere so you can grab a few drinks anytime. The exception is if you’re head to a business meeting that day.

This is more reason to drink if you ask me.

Me too, I regularly go out drinking with mr Sossoman at lunch and return to work in the afternoon to conduct business meetings and make investment decisions.

11:30 seems reasonable. If you have no professional obligations then I don’t see why you couldn’t drink earlier though personally that would be too early. What I find pretty gross is people drinking cola or soda pop at 830 in the morning. Seems hypocritical but theres a firm 12pm rule on that one for me.

Not 1129?

First thou pullest the Holy Beer from thine fridge. Then thou must count to the time mark’d 11:30. 1130 shall be the number of counting and the number of counting shall be 1130. No more, no less. 1131 shalt thou not count neither shalt thou count 1129, excepting that thou then proceed to 1130.

I have tried Hibiki 12 and 15, Yamazaki 12 and the Hakushu. Hibiki is my fav so far but not able to find it here in US anymore.

The earliest we’ve ever started drinking in my office is 10. Though it was the week of Christmas, it was hot chocolate spiked with peppermint vodka, and there was literally nothing going on that week.

Why doesn’t anyone just apply the ‘it’s 11 oclock somewhere’ rule and just drink whenever the fuck you feel like it?

I lied. I’ve had scotch at 6:30am on more than one occasion. But that was on the golf course and the cart girl was still in bed, so it was justified.
