Who was at your test center?

I am copying this one from the L3 forum. Basically just to know what kind of folks you met at your exam center - and give some feedback regarding the ladies on site.

I took it in Zurich, Switzerland. I would estimate some 1000 people. One half of the room was filled with L1 candidates. The other half was L2 2I3 of the hall and the rest L3.

I’d estimate the breakdown as follows:

  • 10% women;
  • 20% asian dudes;
  • 70% white dudes.

There were some minorities; like those idiots in suit and tie. like anyone really cared about how fcking great they looked in their expensive clothes…

Another thing that I was really suprised: most of the L3 guys and gals really looked like serious folks. Almost geekish. Not really any hot women. I saw one 6, and one that was in a miniskirt and crossed legs…but she definitely didnt make the mps.

And I was surprised by how many good looking girls there were in L2. I would have given a good dozen a 7 or higher. Despite them being sleep deprived and basically in their pjs. What about you guys?

this is the worst post I have yet to read on this website.

I really hope no one answers you.

And why would that be?

-1 pt for deduction skills…

I guess your post will be viewed as politically incorrect)))

and maybe sexist)))…

I saw 2 hot babes - me and one Asian chick with blue Prada bag and in Sonya Rykiel dress. thank you, Asian babe, for making my visual experience pleasant)))

Actually, most Asians in my centre were wearing Louis Vuitton to the exam)))… Love these fashionistas)))

I saw very few dress-up guys this time - maybe 2)))…

Nice post

I heard they had to move rahul roy to a different room because none of the girls taking the exam could concentrate

lol

you win the internet for today.

As a girl I find this really offensive. Are you implying that a girl can’t be smart and attractive? I was unaware these things were mutually exclusive. I am not sure how you know how the girl at your test center in the short skirt isn’t going to pass, do you know how long she studied or anything about her background? I am shocked you were even able to sit for level 2 as you need to be out of college, and you seem to lack the maturity of a college graduate.

Listen msc I know I am not mature and I will never be able to hook up with someone like you. But that’s ok with both of us

Why would I say that this particular girl is not going to make it? The official MPS, because she comes to an exam hall and doesn’t cover her legs, which were, by the way, pretty meaty, and therefore offered quite an exposure to extreme uncomfort due to the low temperatures on site. As a reaction to the inevitable, she sat down cross-legged and allowed for Basic-Instinct like insights. She also did not pass my personal MPS; but again and to be fair - I don’t think I would have passed hers. Especially not if I had sat down in proximity to her in a similar outfit, similar position, similar outlook. Would you agree?

On a different note: I did not mean to offend anyone; especially since I remember having these same discussions with some of you last year in L1. Interesting also, how the same content is not seen as offensive at all by neither girls nor guys in Level 3. They are having a good time discussing participants by ethnicities as well as gender. Visually I thought the L3 folks were a bit more nerdy. But virtually they actually turn out to be more laid back.

I read a few of similar posts on this forum and they certainly make me feel uncomfortable. This is disrespectful to women. This forum is read by men and women all over the world and we are here to help and support one another not to offend.

I don’t care if you talk about how many pretty girls you saw at the test center, just like I don’t expect most guys here to get offended if I start talking about the hot guys I saw on Saturday (if any). And I’m not really sure if you’re implying that smart girls (the ones at the higher levels) are less likely to be attractive. In any case I find this to be a false stereotype; if anything I would expect attractiveness to be positively correlated with intelligence…a highly intelligent guy/girl is more likely to be successful and attract someone more attractive then him/her, and their offspring gets the best of both worlds. Something to think about. So I-will-pass, did you get any numbers? I imagine the pre-exam fear and heightened emotions of the day could create a bonding experience.

I agree with Lea124 but I have to add one caveat - attractiveness is definitely positively correlated to success but success levels don’t mean that you’re intelligent the way CFA wants you to be intelligent. Hence, a total idiot can pass those exams and a highly intelligent person may not. An idiot also may fail the exam.

I’m a girl and I’m not offended by the discussion though because to be honest I checked out men in my center too so I’d be hypocrite to say that I didnt judge them for their looks. I live in NY, the mecca of beautiful people, so there were plenty of eyecandy which distracted me from the stress of the pre-exam arrangements so it was very welcome.

Ladies how was your experience with the sex you’re attracted to? Any hot men? Women?

These are my girls!

I feel actually “closest to” zina, regarding the attractivity & success correlation. Attractive people will tend to be more successful than non-attractive people, all else being equal. Does this contradict my observation, that there was only average attractiveness in Level 3? Not necessarily. Pure heuristics will lead you to believe that book smart tends to be average beauties rather than eyecandies.

What does that mean for the three of us here? We will have to fight hard for level 3, because looking good alone wont get us to pass

Did I get any numbers? Hell no, I had enough numbers on the two exams - and clearly had lost all witt and spirit to go after that. I did get a proctor girl in her mid 30s to promise me an orange juice after the pm session, but I hate orange juice, so I didnt take her up on this one.

PS: Milan is the mecca of beautiful people (the Italian one). I have worked in both NY as well as Milan. For me there’s no doubt.

We had +2,000 in Boston so there were some pleasant distractions that honestly helped me to relax a bit

I wonder if people leaving negative comments are genuinely offended or just pretending to be offended for social justice reasons. There’s a pervasive attitude in today’s society that if anyone’s feelings have been hurt (or there’s the slightest potential for them to be hurt) that the offender is obligated to apologize profusely and curb their free-speech-privilege rather than the offended simply growing up and getting thicker skin. The false outrage is getting old.

My guesses about the demographics in Seattle, Washington USA; out of approxomately 500 candidates in all 3 levels:

  • In general the candidates were white males in their mid to late 20’s who were fit.
  • 15% were female.
  • 35% were east asian (many were speaking foreign languages and had foreign passports.)
  • 5% were asian but not east asian (so like indian, pakistani, ect.)
  • 1% were black.
  • Nobody appeared latino.
  • 1 guy wore a suit without a tie.
  • Very few were overweight or obese

The women were mostly 6-7’s. The distribution was slightly skewed right with very skinny tails (I think this is related to both the low rate of obesity and low amount of makeup/sleep.) Attractiveness was inversely related to exam level although the relationship didn’t seem very significant. The 2 best looking ones were sitting for level 3, outliers maybe?

The average age for level 1 was probably 23 and for level III 28 (a much greather difference than the 2 years expected for a 3up/3down candidate.)

90% of the proctors were very obese. The ones watching us take the exam (wearing yellow vests) were mostly women but the proctors handling the exam booklets and using 2 way radios (wearing orange vests) were mostly men. Unlike the candidates they seemed unintelligent and overly-jovial. I don’t like our fate being in their hands.

6+s were few and far between in chitown. I estimate less than 10 out of several thousand candidates. It was weak.

I was at the test center in Northern NJ. All I have to say is that I envied the women at my test center.

Before and after the sessions, there was a long line for the men’s restroom, and I’d just see the women walk right into the women’s restroom - no line.

The average male CFA-type is a dork, so this whole discussion is totally ridiculous, and I’m a male. Like it or not, intelligence and physical beauty are inversely related. The most beautiful people on the planet either are not intelligent, or don’t have to develop their intelligence-- they use their physical attributes to play sports, model, or become movie stars. A male CFA candidate saying there aren’t any good looking CFA women needs to look in the mirror first-- you might be intelligent, but it’s highly likely you are not good looking relative to the truly beautiful people in this world.
