Why CFAI needs to drop Prometric

I took the May 2021 exam. It took a while for the proctor to escort me out after the first half. This created a rush where I missed an opportunity to eat. By the time I was seated after waiting in line for the second half, I had lost time on the test for going over the 30 minutes for the break.

I raised my hand to see if they could fix the issue so I could have the full amount of time for the second half. After five minutes of raising my hand and trying to get the attention of the proctors, I decided to start answering questions because I was falling further behind. I was trying to keep one hand raised when possible, but gave up after about 20 minutes trying to get their attention.

I completed the second half, but was not able to double check all of my answers. Not having lunch and the entire panic regarding time threw me off. I ended up failing the exam by a tiny margin (1-3 questions) the section that weighed down my score was the last one.

Prometric sat on my complaint for over two months and did not pass it along to CFAI. The failure of the proctors was difference between pass and fail. They confirmed that there was video evidence too.

This is truly life ruining and I have to pay for and take the exam again. This is time I will never get back.

I agree with you.

Firstly I could not find the tutorial on the computer on the exam day, I asked the proctors and they were very rude to me. I just ended up staring the exam with watching the tutorial.

The appearance of the exam was different from the tutorial provided by Prometric, it took me 15 minutes to figure it out how to maneuver between the questions and cases.

I could not see the case and questions side by side, I had to keep on minimizing and maximizing to change between questions and cases.

As such I only answered 48% of the AM exam.
I finished the PM with 30 minutes left.
I already knew when after the the exam that I was not going to pass

I had a bad experience as well. On test day, the security check took half an hour and I was sent back to the locker for reasons like I cannot keep my hat on-etc. I have never experienced this type of checks at the regular CFA test sites. It took my enthusiasm away.
The major issue I had with the test was that I was given a laminated page for my calculations with a sharpie. I could not see what I wrote here and this screwed up all my calculations. The heavy calculations areas like FI and derivatives ( which I knew pretty well ), I could not do well because of this. Did anyone else had this problem?
