The problem with it is there are a myriad of feedback mechanisms that cause the rate of change to accelerate substantially over the next 20 years. Things like release of methane from the permafrost in Siberia, etc. It could cause substantial impacts within our lifetime. Not to mention all of these people contending with higher frequency of hurricanes and draught patterns. It’s legitimately a real problem and doesn’t move linearly.
There’s a reason most nuclear projects either fall apart or lose money. To do it safely it’s exorbitantly expensive and all of the capital is sunk up front. These “analysis” are ridiculous, ask any utilities analyst.
Nothing remotely accurate there. Large scale adaption only further accelerate the process and a bunch of people ultimately living underground eating paste because they couldn’t use common sense 30 years earlier is not #winning. If people are so adaptable, why wouldn’t they just adapt now?
I mean if you were to die tomorrow is it the same as dying 50 years from now.
also it kind of matters how you die. Are you dying instantly by a bullet or are they torturing you and taking their time.
if you are driving a car. Accelerating from 0 to 100 real quick by slamming the gas is different from a say a drive to vegas where you can easily creep up to 100 without even knowing.
People have built dams on rivers, which disrupts the flow of sand to the sea, and people have built jetties and harbors along the coast, which disrupts the flow of sand along the coast
anyhoo, the swedish kid had to apologize for saying our leaders should be put “against the wall,” which presumably is a reference to a firing squad. Firing squads against the wall work a lot better than circular firing squads
lol, what does she think they’re putting them against the wall for?
Because people find it more important to be ‘right’ and find something to criticize her for (see this thread, and even your comment) instead of recognizing that climate change is real and there hasn’t been enough action being taken.
It took 2,000 years to build the great wall of China with many individuals portions taking 200 - 400 years. Planners at the time knew it couldn’t be completed in a single or even multiple lifetimes but invested anyway as they wanted to leave something behind for future generations.
they were still sacked by genghis. then taken over by kublai.
but there was some pretty bad ass chinese. the best one was liu bang. founder of the chinese han empire which arguably was greater than rome at its zenith.

“No, no. Not all all. Nothing’s a hoax. … It’s a very serious subject. The environment is very important to me. I’m a big believer in that word, the environment. … I want clean air, I want clean water. I also want jobs, though.”
