agree with skipe99. plus there are tons of unanswered posts there.

I never stated my view on this, but I thought that this forum has some light entertainment and much more comfortable (majority of posters are in their 20’s), while the other has more mature fellows with Phds in Maths and Physics, and lots of intellectual snobbery.

Agreed. I get the impression CFA/FRM is looked down upon by many of the posters.

Are you sure? Maybe it just means that the expected value is bad. And yeah, I look at Wilmott from time to time. The conversations are high level, quant-wise, but there is an undercurrent of intellectual snobbery that is palpable. Still, a lot of the people seem to try to help. They’re sorta lost in their own world though; I get the feeling that stuff outside of that intellectual domain doesn’t interest them too much. Paul Wilmott is more or less a similar personality too. There are moments when he is clearly brilliant, but there are other times when he comes across as condescending. And I do wish he’d learn to label the axes on his graphs, but I guess that’s the difference between someone trained as a mathematician and someone trained in the sciences.

I like this group of people. There’s a good mix of funny, highly intelligent, and business savvy people here. I don’t think there would be too much diversification in that forum.

the average IQ at Wilmott puts the average IQ here to shame (though the smartest guys here could hold their ground in any forum)
You’re right, but IQ isn’t indicative of future financial success, right?
he wanted to know how the forums compare, i wanted to give one facet of the comparison

The fact that you used the term ‘fellows’ sums up the argument.
I think that is due to JOE2010’s British-ness.
