So I’ve been doing CFA EOCs for each reading after reading it from schweser… I found that for some readings (like pensions and RI from equity) I only grasped the concept after doing the EOCs. However, due to lack of time (haven’t touched QM and ethics) I plan to do QM from schweser only… Do u think that it’s enough? I mean did schweser miss some points on QM that are only found in EOC ? That’s my only concern, if not I’m skipping EOC . Thank you.
I found the same thing as you in that Schweser does not prepare you to answer the EOCs indicating that Schweser only is not sufficient study (for me at least). I read Schweser for QM and FRA and then quit Schweser because I was clueless on the EOC questions until going back and reading CFAI. So, I would not skip the EOCs on QM unless you’re just planning on punting the topic altogether. QM is of low weight so if you’re going to punt that would probably be the topic to do so on.
The QM EoCs are the most valuable of all EoCs. They really helped me a lot to grasp the material. I would not skip them. I wouldn’t skip any chapter, but if you are short of time, skip FI, here the benefit/costs ratio is definitely the worst from all topics!
I think it would be unwise to skip CFA EOC given how easy the Schweser questions are.
You still have over 4 weeks left. Why can’t you find time to do the Quant EOC questions?
In my opinion the Schweser readings were good for quant. Having said that the CFA EOCs on this topic do not take very long and are useful to drive home concepts from the Schweser readings.
Thanx guys. after reading your comments decided to do the EOC. I just wanted to make sure that it’s worth the time (which is terrifyingly tight).
I would skip nothing. Each topic can mean the difference between pass and fail in this exam
You guys are very intelligent…I cannot understand any thing written in CFAI texts. For me schweser was my bible.
I only did EOC’s from CFAI.
My advice is that exercise #12 and the 2 item sets (15-20 and 21-26) at the end of practice problems of reading 11 (CFAI) are crucial. This is the minimum stuff you must master from this section. Give those a try and I would hope you’re (at least) 1/3 covered for this section.
I find Schweser problems generally easier than CFAI. I would not dare skip CFAI EOCPP.
What if CFAI puts in TWO quant vignettes? Imagine…
I would be willing to bet they will put 2 vignettes in on quant. 1 will be multiple regression techniques and the other will be time series. book it.
