World Cup 2014

We all know that FIFA are a corrupt self serving organization but you think they could at least get the rankings right. Just browsing the rankings at work and it’s so weird.

Portugal 4’th? Switzerland above Italy?

Greece and USA above the Dutch, French and Croats?

Multiple tIme African champions Egypt and Ghana below Honduras? Wtf?

Games haven’t been fixed so far. Even if FIFA tried, they couldn’t fix the Spain-Netherlands game…Uruguay lost, and the Swiss were helped by a surprisingly correct call. For me, the ref was the MotM there…

When i said they were corrupt i was talking about kick backs etc.

Remember who called Germany…

Muller is a disgrace. On Bayern he’s a POS as well.

Germany is not winning the world cup

The games are high-scoring and entertaining, but the refs just love to give out those penalties, dont they. Too much intereference in the game! The French didnt need a penalty present against Honduras, the Germans didnt need a penalty against Portugal. The refs need to take a f**king back seat and let the game go on its own.

I didn’t see a problem with the penalty in the GER-POR game at all. Red card was justified as well - based on the rules. You can blame Pepe for ruining the game.

I thought it was red for sure. He got lucky.

Pepe is an idiot. 2-0 down and he goes and does that.

Yup, Red Card was justified according to the rules.

Penalty was too soft, similar to the Brazil game. I do think that the ref’s are trying to relax more, Pogba could easily have been sent of and Behrami’s advantage could easily have been pulled back.

Super Eagles taking the pitch now. Fuck i hope they do well, First match i ever saw was the Nigerians loosing to Cameroon, Afcon finals 2000.

Jay Jay Okocha (So good they named him twice), Sunday Oliseh, West (with his green wig), Babangida, Agahaowa and Finidi George. Brilliant. Hope they put up a good showing.

Super Eagles! Lots of Iranians in my city so I hope to see them disappointed tonight.

Pepe has always been an idiot. This is not the first time.

^

Which city? Tons of Iranians here too, their enthusiasm in the face of overwhelming odds is contagious. Hope they put up a good showing too.

Somebody enlighten me–Pepe doesn’t get to play in the US game, right? And how big of a loss is that?

Yes, and a big loss.

It occurred to me during his long walk to the tunnel, Pepe looks a lot like Rory McIlroy

straight red is a 3 match ban in tournaments right?

pretty big loss but not really sure if US can exploit that all that much.

^ Very awesome. My favorite goals so far were this one, Robben’s sprint one and Messi’s.

Mostly agreed. I don’t rule anything out when it comes to FIFA and refs, but favoring the home team and the big teams is a natural tendency anyway. Make a bad call against Honduras and that specific squad will complain a lot. Make a bad call against Brazil or Germany and you will have a hard time trying to ref another WC game, not only because of FIFA, but also because the fans and the press will make much more noise. Either way the situation sucks.

^WSJ just broke the news that Ghana will be without two of its best players, Micheal Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng, for the US match.

Nobody knows why they were taken off the roster, but it’s believed that it was due to injury.

I’m telling you, the stars are aligning for a US advancement. If they finish second in the group, they face a winner from a pretty weak group as well. If they win there, then they will face Argentina in the QF’s, where they will get destroyed.

I don’t know, President Obama does seem to like his drone strikes. I hear there is a suspected Al-Qaeda stronghold right next to Messi’s parent’s house in Rosario.
