It’s not that your statement isn’t factual; it obviously is the case (I’d argue that full stop doesn’t apply here because bombs went off AND people died but I digress). What’s absurd is that it exists in direct contrast to the one thing I’ve been told is the most important of all in the last 17 years. A day doesn’t go by where there isn’t some hack on TV, running for office or writing opinion columns about the dreaded T word. We’ve spent trillions of dollars, killed thousands of people and occupy or bomb countries every day in the name of keeping the US secure from OMG terrorism. What the hell are mysterious packages blowing up innocent people if not terrorism? I do think Shaun King has a tendency to draw quick conclusions but I don’t know if he’s that far off here. No one cares right now because of two things, and they’re both clearly race related:
The victims are black and we don’t know yet if the attackers are Muslim. Full stop.
Not being callous but when people fear the t word they’re not talking about isolated incidents involving 3 people. If this were a larger event it would likely get more press, but as you pointed out nobody really has enough info to know what the heck is going on. I mean it could be in all honesty be someone within the church like that shooting in Texas. People didn’t really go mental over that either because it was a domestic violence event that spilled over. It seems unreasonable to expect outrage over 3 people dying over a multi week period when we’ve got psychotic walking bridges going on rampages with higher numbers than that.
actually there was a fair amount of discussion in news sources about how unsafe the harnesses that are used in these open doored helicopters are as they are difficult to take off in the event of an emergency - i wouldnt be surprised if changes were made to regulations from this.
The brown guy ran over 8 people in NYC and Trump and Fox News lost their minds. You can claim this muted reaction would be the exact same if the victims in Austin were white but I simply don’t buy it for a second. I personally believe we’d have around the clock coverage on the manhunt. *shrug*
Meh again, we had all of the pieces for that one immediately, damage was significantly greater, etc etc. If we had all of the information or really any information on the bomber I’d be more interested. Also, Fox News has covered the bombing about as much as any other outlet. But they just haven’t extrapolated beyond known facts the way the libs have irresponsibly done. It’s called responsible unbiased reporting, maybe you’ve heard of it?
Ok, the last sentence was a joke but the rest is valid.
oh dude FOx and trump would have a field day…bring on the experts and trump twitting something like 96% of car accidents are caused by brown etc…similar to the twit he posted on murder by race which he quickly retracted after few weeks…
LTJ, I mean ultimately what you seem to be marveling at is that parties and their news outlets cover items proportionately based on how it fits into their narrative, which is hardly a revelation.
so i’m guessing since progressives are not talking about it, the crash is widespread in RepubliKKKan networks such as Fox, Daily Stormer, Breibart?
Relax ~~~~ it’s Friday and accumulating 12k points on AF commenting as a social science and political expert won’t do any society or country any good…it’s just an AF forum of which good portion of AF members are international…
Again, that doesn’t make any sense. You’re confusing local vs national media coverage with politicized vs non-politicized news. I’m not really sure you’re following the discussion.
Let it be said often times I am simply making flippant or sarcastic comments about stupid shit I read on the internets. I do enjoy you using it as a springboard to own the libs though.
Haha, I was just wondering what you’d say. Wow, just crazy game. Road to the finals is opening up for Nova and Duke now that the Purdue center fractured his elbow and Arizona is out.
