I would be surprised if I failed. Confidence 7-8/10 I went back to read the OP’s post I don’t see “apply for 2017” anywhere. Just manage & not eligible. What’s going on?
Ok… I’m a confirmed 1 boxer but feeling better since I’m joining topperharley and Banker99… I’d bet big money they both pass BTW…Candidate only… never submitted anything… confidence is about a coin flip at this point feel like my exam score is in the mid 60s

The key is you have both the option to apply and the “not eligible” box. The rest is unimportant, or so the theory goes.
I am also a one boxer and I did not do well - probably 30% chance or lower at passing (I attempted everything in AM, but was extremely unsure of; in PM - I guessed a fair bit too). I asked another friend of mine, who I know is very smart and do not doubt they failed, and they have two boxes.
I did want to address one thing though, because I believe someone who is also a one boxer a few posts above me said that they received a scholarship from CFA institute for level 1. I also received a scholarship from CFA institute for level 1. So not sure if the one box thing is related to receiving a scholarship from before? I also previously had some scholarship apps open that were withdrawn/expired a few years past. Just some food for thought (for stats and correlation purposes).
Another thing; the scholarship button beforehand could be accessed from the “manage account” setting and now it is gone. Did CFA Institute realize this was a tell and try to conceal it?
Are we allowed to post screenshots? I’d be really interested in seeing 1 box v.s. 2 boxes…

I also don’t think that this holds any merit.
I’ve worked with loading large data sets like this to a client facing UI, and during loads it’s possible for some to be delayed relative to others. In other words, even if this theory proves true and those with the two boxes pass, and the single box fails; it doesn’t mean that your single box is indicative of things to come.
It could be a result of delayed database update, potential need for a refresh of the data, or perhaps they were testing an initial load and have yet to do the rest.
For anyone who has the one box, don’t sweat it. Apparently last year there was similar hysteria and it proved to all be noise. I have a feeling it’ll be similar this year.

Thank you! Yes that’s what I see. Once I withdrew my application I alsp saw the apply for 2017 message.
Just stating my observations - it is pretty hilarious how people were clicking around the website to actually find these nuances. This is the silver lining as a one-boxer
When you withdrawal the application, the link disappears. You can then start a new app by going to the search box as described earlier, “apply scholarship”.
rinse and repeat.

Both before and after I created a scholarship application (for the first time ever) I had the 2nd box. I don’t think creating/deleting scholarship applications has anything to do with the getting the 2nd box. FWIW, I was scoring 70+ on 6 mocks I wrote but think that the actual exam is the worst exam I wrote, unfortunately. I will be surprised with a pass.
If i am not wrong, some charterholders seem to have one box while some seem to have two boxes as per someone who reported in this thread, hence, this thing seems to have already been debunked.
I am curious whether this is the first time people have caught this “tell” on CFA website. Was it not like this in previous years?
In some sense I think feeling ‘confident’ might be a bad thing bc that may 1) u fell for all the tricks or b) u didn’t fall for the tricks and over-studied but over-analyzed everything.
im a 1 boxer but I feel ok. Went through quite a number of the schweser mocks and the cfai stuff but was always in the mid to high 60’s and low 70’s range. Borderline I would say. Hoping for the best tomorrow tho.
Funny thing about this whole debacle is that I had 0 expectation or confidence going into results tomorrow. To me it was almost guaranteed that I will retake (even though I am generally pessimistic and studied a shit ton). Now this has given me at least some level of hope and if I fail tomorrow it will crush my soul and I will have trust issues for the rest of my life. Don’t do this to me
