i mean its nice but wouldnt you rather have an olumpic sized pool.
yea…and also one that has a pace clock… and one that is not 89 degrees. lol
Ran 14 miles today… watch said I only burned 900 calories. No wonder only eating about 2300 calories a day keeps me at a steady weight
On a positive note… lower calorie diets are associated with longevity
nice KMD
Yeah maybe, I mean I think of Bruce Lee when you say that. I’m sure he burned a high cal diet and died young. “Its better to burn than to fade.” - Cobain
I went to the beach earlier for some footwork and cardio drilling. I started out with light skimboarding, but then realized I could do skimboard super sprints, I was hitting over 12mph. I forgot about my knee/patella actually for a bit, then every now and then it would feel a bit creaky. So that gives me hope and excitement that at least for the beginning of the race, I think I can launch into a fast sprint right from the gun start. I did an open water swim at the beach. Was pretty good. I hit ‘swim’ on Strava and it said it was capturing the length still, even though I wasn’t in a pool. Not sure what the GPS looks like because it died on me (dead dead). Kind of a pain, but can just go to Best Buy for another for free as I got the 2 year plan. I think I was trying to see my length underwater, lol. It broke around then. I couldn’t cycle this morning, so headed tonight to try the Cycliq. I’m going to throw my phone in my Camelbak so maybe Strava can record it and sync to my Cycliq… we will see… I’m out. Isaiah
25.8 mi cycle tonight
I fixed the thread for you
haha nice KMD … perfeccctttt
no 100 word limit on here, right?
No limits Ace!
Training for a mile race cannot contain you… neither should anything else…muahahahaaaa!
niceeeeeee

back camera looks cool too ---- (nice boat on the turn) I got first today on part of the beginning of this section on Strava (I think its going the other way). I never get first… 18th overall this year. 22.6mph average for a duration of 1:56.
The highlight of my train ride every morning - checking in to see what kind of wacky sh!t ACE is up to.
^lol
I did 23mi this afternoon. Pretty good session. I got back to find two boxes on my doorstep, containing 5 boxes of Lara bars (Lemon, Coconut, Cashew, Peanut Butter Cookie, Seed&Nut Dark Chocolate Almond).
I was pretty happy as I was kind of out of food and really hungry. I had 1740 cal when I got inside, purely on Lara bars (5 Peanut Butter cookie, 2 Coconut, 1 Dark Choc Almond Seed&Nut). The Dark Choc Almond Seed&Nut looks good and tastes healthy, but it doesn’t taste that good. But, it would be nice with some Vanilla Greek yogurt and strawberries or something. Just not alone.
I’ve been taking 150oz on my rides and that seems a good amount. More than that is excessive and too heavy. Also, Cycling is a very time consuming activity. It is significantly more high maintenance than running and I feel its higher maintenance than MMA for me, just in terms of maintaining gear and equipment so that it operates properly (trips to bike shop, adjusting gear, replacing gear). I’m cutting down the time needed to train though and developing good rituals.
I think I’m going to focus from here on out on rides based on my 150oz liquid limit. No stops, door to door. The stopping is just time consuming for me in general at this point. I have to stop, unclip, put a shirt on, take off my cameras on the bike so no one steals them, lock up, etc. Its a process.
So probably will focus on 150oz based sessions (usually is 20mi for me). I’m ok with adding another 48oz in my bike containers (and I bring Propel with me), but I can’t really go more than 35mi without some sort of food (I could get another pack on the front of my bike with GU packs, but I don’t really need to be focused on the long endurance side of training at this point, and prepping for another extended part of the journey makes prep more of a pain). So my focus is going to be on these 20mi rides, as intense as possible. I would rather do 20/20/20 in a 3/day than 60 straight up, just because to ride 60mi and prepare for it, is a pain in the ass. But, overall I’ll probably do whatever and have fun.
This dude in a White Cadillac XT5 really screwed me today. There was a big bus on the right, parked and he slowed down (I thought he was turning left), but he slowed to let people cross where there wasn’t a crosswalk. It really pissed me off as this family was crossing and I was blind. I noticed he stopped a little before the turn and 4 feet before where they were crossing I had the feeling someone was crossing, but was completely blind. They didn’t look as this other car probably hand signaled them to cross and I needed to stop fast. It was my right of way, but was about to collide. I came to a skidded stop in front of this girl and my back tire slid at a 45 degree angle towards these people. This dude walked by with a Tupac shirt and he was grinning, and this girl was grinning ear to ear. I was kind of pissed at that driver, but my stop somehow looked real smooth. It was sketchy though. She was all smiles the whole way, it was kind of close though. Also, when its a really close call, the Cycliq thing beeps. There must be a proximity alarm on it, not sure what the specs are on that though.
I just don’t ride fast on roads anymore and stick to the trails for cycling exercise. I know somebody who died when a car door opened in front of him and he went flying. I believe it was a neck injury.
In SF a cyclist slammed into me as I was crossing the street with my wife. He was coming down a hill and not looking and I didn’t see him at all. Luckily I was pretty heavy at the time, blocked my wife and had minimal injury, except for a bruise on my hip. The roads are crazy, mang.
Yeah, I feel some cities are more dangerous than others. I’m very careful when I ride, even though I operate at high speeds. The safest city I have ever ridden is NYC.
Just because although the cabs are aggressive, they know where you are and have a good amount of situational awareness. There are a good amount of cycling lanes and places to duck in and out of if needed. My current city is rated among the worst cycling cities (potholes, drivers, tourists). No cyclists train the routes I ride. I’m the only one. There are other bikes out there, but I’m the only cyclist. The only places I see other cyclists is on the bridge I go over to train downtown. I typically like city riding though. That’s what I’m used to. I basically rode courier style riding for 4 years in NYC. Only person I hit there was a cop crossing the street. She was jaywalking though and was kind of round, so I don’t think it hurt her too much. She made me late for Peter Olinto’s Stalla CFA class.
I took the Fitbit back to Best Buy today. They told me to pick out a new one so I switched from silver to black. As I went to check out, the person said a warranty was no longer available and I was going to get a refund for it.
But, I don’t want to worry about the thing breaking as I am hard on equipment so decided to abandon Fitbit. They gave me a store credit and I had to choose between the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music or Apple Watch 3.
I thought the Garmin looked better and has a better rep for accuracy in measurement, but after dealing with the lacking interface and software of Fitbit, I felt I could rely on Apple’s software a bit easier. The Best Buy associates knew nothing and provided zero helpful information. I had to tell them I’m was going to check my phone for reviews on the watches and they walked away.
Got the Black Apple Watch 3 Nike GPS. I got the Nike just because of the band. I didn’t like that band without the holes in it.
I did 25.5 mi earlier and stopped at this cafe I go to - ate 1lb salmon and a bunch of other stuff. Have been to register 3 times, downed $80 in food in 20min. It’s rush week. Chicks in outfits everywhere.
God Bless America…
These two chicks walked in with tight white matching bell bottom jeans on - haha damn I wish I could turn my Cycliq on without the light flashing …
