Any one still waiting for CFAI experience approval?

It was three bullet points, 83 words total with each point being directly tied to an LOS in the curriculum (though I did not reference them explicitly). It was about 3 times the length of the average description which they provide on-line… https://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/charterholder/membership/work_descriptions.html Pretty ridiculous ruling, but doesn’t seem to be out of the ordinary with what other people have posted on AF. I find it pretty humerous that most of their example descriptions are like 30 to 50, yet qualify, based on the above link. I’m pretty sure if I submitted something that short for every role, they would all be considered ‘Description Too Brief’. Whatever, I’ll beef it up with more BS and explicitly reference the LOS’s this time. I still won’t have 48 months until January 2010, so I’ve got some time to get them sorted.

Thank you glendronach. I am freaked out, coz my job description is much shorter than yours. Probably see it being rejcted soon.

You might be alright… The more I think about it, I’m thinking the decision might hinge around the type of role. The rejected period was related to more of an accounting-analyst type role, so perhaps in those types of roles they require more information, whereas for clear-cut finance roles shorter descriptions are sufficient? Gotta love the transparency of the CFAI!!

Glendronach - Just adding my experience in case it helps. I posted my work experience and checked in regularly. My first job was rejected (although no mention of the reason why) and - just like you - my other two positions were left blank. Nothing for two days (felt sure a big fat rejection was coming in my direction). Mysteriously, after two days all three positions were accepted. I guess that my first role prompted some kind of higher level review that overturned the first reviewer but obviously I don’t know for sure what happened. Here’s hoping there’s a mysterious change of heart in your case too… Tam

Much appreciated! I hope you’re right… I’ll be crossing my fingers for the same thing to happen to me!

Doods, I’m still waiting for a response. Still in “Work Experience Review” status on the “Check Application Status” tab. I submitted Oct 1 and sponsors both submitted Oct 2!

Just kidding. I got my first role rejected yesterday and my sponsors submitted Sept. 30th, so your time is near!! Good luck!

Wangta01 I am in the same boat as you. I would hope for an answer by the end of this week.

…well, based on these posts, i guess i should stop checking my status every hour since my sponsors just submitted last week. Are you supposed to see the ‘Decision Days’ field fill in before you get an answer on work experience?

I think the ‘Decision Days’ field only fills in for the Society review, but I could be totally wrong. I’ve got nothing in that particular field currently.

My sponsor submitted Sep. 30th. There is still no news for me. glendronach, you are lucky to get feedback earlier than me.

My sponsors submitted me on 9/17 and 9/18 and my experience was reviewed and accepted by 10/2. I am still awaiting final societal review (26 “Decision Days Remaining”). So it took them about two weeks to review and approve my 67 months of applicable experience (the other half of my 12+ years was non-investments, non-financial so I just put “N/A” in the description so they wouldn’t waste time reviewing it). Of course, I am a ways off from my actual charter, since I passed L1 in June 2009 (1st try) and I am taking L2 in June 2010. A little bit out of order, yes…although I was in real estate investments as a consultant, the CFA was not the sought-after designation among my peer group. But at least I’ll be a regular member until I pass all three exams.

Mine are blank for both CFAI and local CFA society…should they be populated with something?

Wangta01, those fields only became populated after my various experiences were accepted or rejected. They were blank during the “reviewing work experience” period.

I have received responses that it takes between 4-8 weeks to review experience. I had my experience approved prior to level 3 when i applied (but never joined) as an affiliate member. Dont know why they need to review experience again for 8 weeks after they have already approved the experience once. For having to go through such a long process in passing all three levels, and gaining a thorough understanding of the time value of money, the CFAI sure doesnt seem to get it. 8 weeks is very excessive for verifying work experience.

Finally a response from CFAI… 11 Months Rejected - Description Too Brief, the remaining 32 months I submitted were accepted. I will resubmit the first 11 months with much more detail and a focus on ‘adding value to the investment process’.

I got feedback this morning. Entire 26-month work experience is approved. I really did not hold any hope after reading so many posts saying that their w/e are rejected. My job description is so brief, only 30 words (probably less), and not closely related to securities, accounting, and PM… This feedback is definitely a positive surprise for me. Wangta01, your good news may be on its way.

Mine says “under review - society” for status but when I click on the CFA Institute link, it says work experience rejected, too brief How do I resubmit?
