What the F - I accidently clicked on the CFAI application and under one of my job descriptions it says “Description to brief” - I freaking wrote a good 200 words. WTH? And my venture capital/private equity experience was given “does not qualify” status. WTH? Still waiting for them to review my investment banking experience…that should pass without problems - 4 of my colleagues that work at the firm are CFA charterholders!

I think we need to take some tips from yyk, cause his 30 words of non-finance/accounting/port. mgm’t experience got approved! yyk, what’s the secret?!
yyk, Indeed shed some light into this matter for us!!!

Most of what I am doing is related to energy economics, giving me nothing to boast: A common academic researcher, published a few of publications about oil/gas reservoir evaluation, used VBA to prepare financial model. And you probably noticed I am not a native English-speaker. I just described my responsibilities in a very plain language. There is really no secret.

With respect to valuation, that experience pretty much trumps any generic accounting/finance analyst role, IMO. Makes sense that it was pretty easily approved. Thanks for the insight yyk!
Got my final approval e-mails today from the CFA and from my local society. Paid dues for my regular membership! Now I just need to pass two more tests. Submitted application on 9/11, sponsors finished on 9/18, and final acceptance and societal review on 10/21. So the whole process took just under six weeks.
The San Francisco society met on Wednesday, and I still haven’t received any update. My application is still under society review. Very frustrating!
^SanFranMatt, I’m in the San Francisco society as well (as of yesterday) I received my e-mail on Friday afternoon after checking my account during the day and seeing the change. It took them about 21 days to complete my application once the work experience was approved.
41 days remaining…
I submitted 8/18! nothing approved yet. I don’t remember when my sponsors submitted but I think it was early October.

I would check the link “View my sponsors” under the Membership section of your account. It should provide you with the names, type of sponsor, and most importantly, the day they completed the form.
I just got my work experience approved exam. The website has also crashed…
I just got approved also, they must do it only every so often. It took about 5 weeks for my stuff to get approved. Now, i’m a member pending my activation aka- paying $$$$$
thanks leo_land… now mine is updated to show 43 decision days remaining.
I waited a full month for CFAI and was approved, now I’m waiting for CFALA, 1 week and counting…
my work experience was approved. now waiting for NYSSA, 39 decision days remaining
how to know whether the experience has been approved? will they send an email or will i need to constantly check the website?
i didn’t get an email. someone else posted here about clicking the link in the membership application status, and that’s how I saw it, otherwise I would never have known. the link i am talking about is where it shows for example nyssa 39 decision days remaining. if you have something like this and click it, a new page will open up to show the job experiences you submitted and the decision on each - approved or rejected - with rejection reason in case of rejection.
been waiting for 3 wks… shld i email them to ask?
Finally got CFA approval, still waiting for NYSSA. I got an email Saturday about the CFA approval
