I thought it was illegal in the US for some reason because I had the PokerStars app and it wouldn’t let me upload money. I recently have used the Carbon Poker app; it’s like PokerStars but not as clean. I can use it on my iPhone or iPad which is cool.
Has anyone used sites other than Carbon? I seem to remember some Poker studs on this forum.
Don’t even bother trying to get money on there. Volume on those sites is low which means you barely can get a game above 3/6 fixed and 1/2NL. Plus, even if you rack up considerable winnings there is a high probability of site getting shut down. Find a local card room.
Yeah Carbon goes up to $15/30 FL , $3/6 NL. It is pretty low volume - I’m surprised there is not a good solid site out there with a ton of players. I usually play the tournaments or 6 seat max sit and go. The ring games give you some high wins every now and then, but it takes a bit.

What rake is ‘decent’ rake?
for an underground game when food/drinks are included: 10% up to x amount. the 10/25 i play at is 10% up to 30 which isnt bad. The games i used to play in nyc were cheaper bc there are a lot more games there but the games here are not as prevalent.

I went there last month and the action is mental. No one loves games of chance like the chinese. These guys were dropping 48 hr sessions on the tables like it was nothing and the PLO tables? wow. you can live of poker there if you know what you’re doing.
I was in Macau last month as well and the place is awful and I would never go back. The mentality of “i’m going there to win” is ridicoulous and the environment sucks. I’ll take Vegas over Macau any day.
PLO is what Holdem was before MoneyMaker won the Main Event. I love the game but I’m more of a 2-7lowball player.

i know, but this is an underground game in boston, not a casino. there is a decent 5/10 game at foxwoods if i want to sit with all the regulars but there is always a wait and a must move to get to the main table. I def plan on going to macau when i get the chance

as a player all you want is the tables to be alive and the tables in Macau are batshit crazy. I mean these guys were 5 bet jamming 3-5 off suit. I’m sitting on a 25 k stack and before it’s my turn there’s roughly 35k in the pot and i’m waking up to AA. what more can you ask for?
everyone I know who’se been to both says all the action is in Macau now. According to this Macau has pretty much decimated Vegas.

you’re bang on about PLO. It is pretty much the game right now to make money. some people are so new they still don’t understand that you can’t make a one card flush and they’ll have stacks upwards of 10k in front of them.
it’'s actually great that there are so many books and info available now, all these dickheads study the game like it’s science and come to ‘grind’ playing the margins with hands they’ve been told to open with it’s still easy to make money if you’re playing pure poker.
