Excuse to leave work

So I got a call from a nice firm about 20 minutes South of my current employer and they wish for me to come in at 4:00 PM tomorrow. I said, “Sure, why not.” What is the going excuse to leave work these days? I don’t wish to tip off my employer that I’m interviewing with their arch nemesis.

You could jokingly say you’re going to interview elsewhere in the hope people think you’re kidding.

Dentist usually works – unlike Dr appt, nobody assumes you have something wrong with you, and dentists usually schedule at weird times.

Who needs an excuse? We could all learn some things from Don Draper. I’ll be channeling my inner-Draper here in about an hour and a half (just like I did Monday, and just like I’ll do tomorrow) to catch some baseball. Your boss will respect you for having a pair.

  1. Cable Guy is supposed to come by your place 2. Handyman is supposed to be by your place to fix HVAC 3. Fedex is supposed to drop off an important package that you need to sign for 4. If all that fails, then take a late lunch and show up with food on your shirt

This is a whole lot easier for those of us with kids - there are a million kid-related reasons to leave work early…

your super called - there is water leaking from the apartment above you and you need to go home to let the super in, make sure your stuff is ok. doc/dentist on short notice is kind of suspicious - why didn’t you give heads up before? unless of course explosive diarrhea
