Does anybody that has interviewed for Google in the past know what type of questions I should expect for interview with Google? Any insight will be appreciated.

Get ready for the hardest interview of your life. Also, probably not the best idea to be querying an online message board about a search engine companies interview questions. They know more about you than you do. Also, try Google. Better yet; http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=Google+Interview+Questions No Tiny URL Chad? Really?

Google does not ask financial analysts and programmers the same questions at interviews. They’re not going to ask you to design algorithms on the spot. Just be prepared to answer (or estimate) lots of common sense stuff - like how much money does GMail make in a day, how many Google searches there are in a day, how many trains run out of New York every day, how much it costs in electricity to run all of Google’s computers, and random stuff like that. The people who will interview you are MBA/finance types, not hardcore nerds like you would get if you were applying for a CS job.

One of the best companies to work for outside of Finance… Good Luck

google will be delisted/bankrupt with in next 5 years. Remember they are a advertising company not a search company. Since since everyone I know block ads or never clicks on ads…

I used to work with google at ATT and a friend of mine works for an advertising start up that works with google daily as well. You are obviously talking directly out of your cinnamon ring.

To the google will collapse guy. Google doesn’t make its money from pop-up ads.

Successful troll is successful.

To LBriscoe, from Googles 10-K: "We generate revenue primarily by delivering relevant, cost-effective online advertising. Businesses use our AdWords program to promote their products and services with targeted advertising. In addition, the third-party web sites that comprise the Google Network use our AdSense program to deliver relevant ads that generate revenue and enhance the user experience. " also: "We generated 97% of our revenues in both 2008 and 2009 from our advertisers. Our advertisers can generally terminate their contracts with us at any time. Advertisers will not continue to do business with us if their investment in advertising with us does not generate sales leads, and ultimately customers, or if we do not deliver " you just got told, google is a ad company period. search is just a toy that make zero profit.

is it even possible to block ads on google? am i missing something or is the the obvious point everyone is silently making?

you can block all google ads with this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 or you can add googles ad servers ips to your host file. trust me, I’ve been using the internet since mid-90s and have NEVER click on a ad, ever. I don’t know anyone that has either. I mean seriously I know people that stop visiting websites due to ads. google’s business model is fucked and they keep taking on losing businesses(youtube). GOOG stock is worth about 50 dollars

By all means, if you or the 5 people you know haven’t clicked on an AD then IT MUST NOT WORK! I agree with PTC, your solid analysis and plethora of evidence and information to support your, uh, interesting, views makes me wan’t to lever myself up to the eyeballs and ride this baby down.

see you in 5 years

Trust him. He’s been using the internet since the mid-90’s. No one is disputing that GOOG isn’t an advertising company. Whether you believe it or not, the ads work. Look at the very piece you quoted: “Advertisers will not continue to do business with us if their investment in advertising with us does not generate sales leads, and ultimately customers, or if we do not deliver…” And yet somehow they had $23B in revenue last year, up 8.5% over the prior year. More importantly, they’re not so much an advertiser as they are an ad broker. Meanwhile you think GOOG is worth $50/share, or about 2.5x trailing earnings, or about .5X book, or about $25 less per share than they have cash on the balance sheet. Good luck with L1, son.
