It’s happening. Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather will come out of retirement to battle UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match on Aug. 26. The bout will be held in Las Vegas at either the MGM Grand Garden or T-Mobile Arena.
After just under two years of smack talk between the two, Mayweather and McGregor coming to an agreement to finalize this fight is a massive development. McGregor’s side has supposedly been done for weeks with UFC president Dana White saying as much in the press. Speculation has the two fighters earning approximately $175 million combined for the bout.
No conformation has been provided at this time from Mayweather Promotions, UFC or Showtime, but Mayweather and McGregor have each announced it on social media. The bout will be distributed by Showtime pay-per-view, which has a relationship with Mayweather Promotions.
Mayweather (49-0 boxing, 26 KOs) has not fought since 2015 when he defeated Andre Berto, while McGregor (21-3 UFC, 18 KOs) won the UFC lightweight championship with a second-round knockout of Eddie Alvarez in November 2016.
The mixed martial artist will be competing in his first boxing match – amateur or professional – when he steps into the ring with Mayweather.

Hell yes!!! Gonna try to make this one, TMT all day, everyday! TBE!
So Floyd gets to dance around for several rounds, land an occasional blow that doesn’t faze CM, and will end up winning when we all know CM would kill Floyd outside the ring? Sounds awesome.
Anyone see the video of McGregor fighting The Mountain? I’ll try to find it. Ultimately, being gigantic wins over being awesome.
I think the deal is fair. Floyd don’t know MMA, so its reasonable. Boxing is a subset of MMA, but MMA is not a subset of boxing.
The chump should’ve fought pacquioa 5 years ago
I’d be for it if McGregor got to hold on the Floyd if he could catch him. Fight would be over in minutes. Instead this is going to be Bizarro UFC #1 when all the boxers got their asses kicked by Joyce Gracie and the like.
i feel bad for the suckers that will pay to watch this fight
I’m sure the Pay Per View proceeds will be record breaking. I may have to watch because this is probably the last fight Mayweather will ever have.
I’m going with 85% chance Mayweather wins. But, he could get caught … that would be insannneeee He would retire with one loss - not undefeated anymore - his pride shattered … wowwwwww
He could have got caught 49 times before, TBE!
I’ve got money on McGregor based on a hunch. Thankfully I make investment decisions based on more thorough analysis.
youre dead right muffin boy
once a stud always a stud
Only thing that could upset this is corruption.
I’m wearing my TMT hat, right now.
rofl thats my bday. i was supposed to vegas that weekend, but a friend of mine will turn 21 the week prior and there is a big vegas bash with the people i ball with so i already got rooms booked for aug 18 to 20 at the vdara. on a side note, my friend dropped 10k on the canelo fight. he’ll prolly do the same thing since this is prolly another one of the “sure winners”. i might do a back to back. holy shit. hotel prices fucken doubled
I never bet on sports, but was talking to my friend about betting on this fight. We agreed to put a small amount of money on Conor winning it to make the fight more interesting. Also, if Conor wins, we will get paid more than just betting on the favorite (Mayweather). What betting sites do you guys use? Which have the easiest/best payout methods?
The odds for mcgregor have shortened quite a bit in a day so people must be taking a punt. I got in at 8s and it’s now at 5s
