Gym Time

My gyming days are over. Between managing work, studying for CFA, a girlfriend, daily chores (laundry cooking etc) and getting pissed there is jsut no time. I really wanted to get into shape for the euro summer too, oh well… Maybe I could just take 2 hard weeks of gyming and get on the roids and get the same results of 6 months gym, is this correct?

How long does it take?

That’s not true, I’ve been waking up early in the morning and doing it. Although I’ve got to say it’s draining me after the first 5 weeks…but as advertised I am getting more fit. I pretty much stopped working out during level 1 & 2, it’s not good I feel so crappy. needhelp Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > i just wanna say that you cannot do P90X and study > for a CFA exam at the same time. > > thanks.

im sure this guy is the owner of the p90x patent and gets a royalty one very sale… there is far too much talk of this crap on this forum

Free weights, pull-up bar, and chair/stool. This program won’t get you huge, but you will have more balance and flexibility than a body builder and probably more practical strength. scandoworker: Yeah, in P90x+, you see a lot more advertisements. But the exercises are good. Spiderman pushups are tough http://redbullsreader.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/camilo-villegas.jpg Har har

How much of your time (per day) does it require?

Lifting weights is pretty much the only thing I look forward to these days. I used to work out 5 days a week, but due to the intensity of my routine, I’ve switched this to 3 days a week. Under no circumstances will I ever miss a work out. Fad programs like Cross-Fit, P90X, etc are just that, a fad. Good nutrition, and a solid plan (I suggest Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe) is more than enough for the average gym-goer.

And for anyone coming up with excuses as to why they can’t work out: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sex_news_sports_funny_grok/guest_atomic_dog

I have gotten back into swimming recently - I swam 20 laps on Thurs, 20 laps on Fri, and plan to swim 25 or so today.

btw - free Quiznos sub printout coupon http://millionsubs.com/Reg.php

Once that motivation comes and you get on that high, there’s just no limit as to how far you can go really…I keep thinking to myself “If there’s a place I don’t mind dying, its the treadmill” and all energy within is alive and ready to go…

I mean i have been slacking at the gym for the last year but before that i was there 4-5 times a week doing the normal weight rutine. The chest and back day killed me because stamina wise i had never done pullups and pushups (all various kinds) literally for an hour straight. By the end of some of these workouts your just dead. Its full of stuff you have never done before, i would never be the guy who ever considered doing yoga, but i tried that disk and i have never sweat so much standing still in all my life. Once your body gets use to the movements i am assuming it will be like every other workout video series. This is the first homework out videos that i would honestly say i would even contemplate paying for…with that in mind i did not pay for mine…ha.

question for my p90x homies: are you able to do all reps, positions etc? i cant always keep up with Tony et al and i sometimes have to do pushups on my knees. i also have to use a chair for most pull ups. anyone else?

I don’t do P90X but would recommend not using your knees ever. Once your mind thinks it can revert to an easier type of pushup, you will always have that in the back of your mind and won’t be able to focus as well on pumping out as many regular pushups as possible.

I just go to my knees if I fall doing normal pushups. I’m always trying to push myself. Let’s have a p90x meet-up after our exam, haha

Yeah - diamond are the roughest . . . I would still recommend no knees. The hardest diamonds (maybe the best form) is when you keep your back legs fully straight, make a real diamond with your fingers, and touch your nose to the middle of the diamond on the ground. Good form on pushups will pay many dividends to you in the future. You really strengthen your abs as well when you don’t ever use your knees.
