How are we doing?

The view was good, the distractions were bad.

ahhh Big ML, but when you think back to the exam in a few years… are you going to remember the hot chicks or the questions… :stuck_out_tongue: Got 78% on the MC on the study guide… was tracking like 60% up until Hedge Funds and then went like 24/25!

nice score tom.

I thought the exam was totally fair…it was really either you know it or you don’t and I was stumped on a few occassions and asked “why is this on the exam?” At one point on the MC I had 54 questions to do and 45 min left. I finished the last question with :13 to spare. I can easily see someone getting an 85 or better on this exam…but not me…After reviewing my best hope is a 70 on the MC and maybe a 18 or 19 on the essays which works out to 68,69. If you did not study everything multiple times, I feel for you, you will be frustrated. A couple questions I knew just did not know it enough.

85 is difficult to score bro. Glad it went well for you. 68% will be pass. Material is way too much to know everything so we will miss few points for sure. Time is a key in the first part for sure now. How were the essays? Was Ethics part of essay as well? How many numericals in AM and PM exam?

Essay were eh! I think I got two of three correct (I am sure they will find some way to knock my 20 to 16 or 17) one totally stumped me but if you knew you could easily score 27-29 on the essay part. If you get 70 correct on first part that is almost 80 right there. Even though the first part was tight time wise don’t panic, there are some easy ones in there that you can answer in 10 seconds flat.

I am sure you and Big ML are through now. Essay is kinda tough for me. My mind freezes while writing answers even if I have hint on what to write. If some tough one comes, I will miss full assigned marks.

Also was MCQ part in serial like first PE then Commod then MF etc or questions were coming randomly?

If this exam were all I had on my plate it would be pretty easy to crush. I am sure there are some people that will walk away thinking it was really easy because it was if you had time to take several passes at the material. Aside from the 5 or so things I had never seen before there weren’t too many “stumpers”. It certainly wasn’t like the CFA where I feel they put in a ton of distractors and curious phrasing. Just hoping there were a ton of busy or lazy people to help me out on the curve.

thx

Took it today. Mcq was rough for me. Not sure if it was just nerves or something but I think I ate it pretty hard. I went through all the uppermark qbank and it I think it was a mistake. Should have stuck with Schweser like I have for Cfa 1/2 and Caia 1. The proctor said that there were supposed to be 2 others taking the test with me today but the were no shows and he would have to make note of it back to Caia. Do you guys think these no shows are counted as 0’s and factored into the curve??

Sat for the exam in downtown NYC today, I came out and the Dow was down 4%! AM exam was fair, lots of minutia on the seminal papers, shouldn’t be a surprise. Item sets had some calcs that could catch you off guard, but they also have some give-away. Time management was important, finished with 20 minutes to review. PM session, 2 Essays topics are at random, the third shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Time wasn’t a issue. Uppermark was pretty spot-on in what a candidate should expect. As far as CFA level II equivalent, the CFA exam itself was much more difficult in my opinion, but the subject materials in the CAIA curriculum can be just as difficult to study, especially Andrew’s Lo’s seminal paper. Good luck everybody!

Thanks for sharing Chris and Sanfran

And then there was me and pupdawg lol

yes boss we are left now along with all nighter guy. I am just tensed. Aren’t you in UK, Tom?

Operation yeild curve

^ what?

Don’t worry that’s not in the exam, just what’s going on in the US markets.
