I’m taking level 1 on June 2014. I’ve fiished reading Quant and now half way through FRA material.

Last Octomber was the month I started this journey. I’m kinda plan oriented guy so to begin with I counted the number of pages in each reading for all modules (without pages dedicated to probs;Just the reading part only) and add them up to get the sum of pages. I divided that with number of days left till my designated syllabus finishing day (3 weeks prior to exam date).

Now I’m reading 7 pages a day; 49 pages per week. After finishing with my daily 7, whole other time is dedicated to do practice problems.

This is my strategy; It had did wonders with my law exams especially to read all those lengthy cases. Don’t know this would suit to CFA context though.

7 pages a day… are you sure that gives you sufficient time?

are you doing practice on top of that or just doing reading???

i would urge you to pick up the pace… if possible.

@Former_trader: Well my calculation says otherwise. Thus far it had worked perfectly, It may be because I haven’t encountered any difficult subjects yet. My main aim is to do problems as much as possible. Cause,You know, that’s the only way to remember this humoungus curriculum. But I’m optimistic. I ooze confidence

@Waiguy: I’m using schweser. if the strategy gets the job done, why bother about some old management concept

1. You should be reading the material more than once

2. There are more important topics than others. Spending equal amounts of time on every page is not efficient.

I never thought I have to read this damn modules over again. Oh this changes every thing. (you are evil :D)

Since I have some time, I can amend the strategy accordingly.

You may be able to read them just once, who knows, some people learn everything from reading once.

BUT you have to do questions, and mock exams EARLY to test whether or not you truly understand the material and exam ready!

Do not count pages… count study sessions! say if you have 5 months to go and there are 20 study sessions then you should do approximately 4 sessions each month, but within the month you should also do the questions for those 4 study sessions.

Mock exams are released 3 weeks prior to exam right? So how I’m supposed to do mock exams this early.

Yeh. like I said earlier, I finish one LOS and take Q - bank questins ralating to that LOS and move on. Currently I’m scoring around 70 - 80% for each reading. (why don’t they just call it “Chapter” instead of “Reading”)

After I’m done with my daily 7 pages with my current module, I review the previous module,that I’ve already finished, by watching schweser videos. Then I do the curriculum problems and schweser end chapter problems for that module.

Isn’t it it nice to have a process . (I admit I’m a giant nerd)

Nooooo… mock exams are available way earlier, plus you can find old ones online (the ones from CFAI posted previously but people have kept them and posted online), as well as external providers and Elan and Schweser…

One great method to avoid procrastination is to be like Nana and only post at 3-5am local time.

^I like Nana’s posts and she seems like a nice person so I didn’t want to say that outright, but I do struggle to see how someone can consistently post between 1am and 5am in Tokyo time if they hold a regular job, as is implied. Maybe she just doesn’t sleep. Or maybe the Japanese work weird hours. I give her the benefit of the doubt.

Overstudy is the best study method.

i disagree. I don’t think it’s possible to over study for an exam that you can only take once per year.

Yes you can. Study for 700 quality hours. Start in September like I did for L3. It’s bull$hit that it’s useless to start 9 months before. It’s not. It allowed me to read the material several times and each time I understood more.
