I know it's a tough job market but this is ridiculous

Did anyone read the article in Rolling Stone about NYC ‘rubber room’ teachers. Some of those people have literally sat in a room doing nothing–sleeping if anything. They’ve been making over 100K/year.

As of May 2008, starting teacher salaries range from $45,530 (bachelor’s degree, no prior teaching experience)… Teachers who already have a master’s degree but no teaching experience will start at $51,425. So figure 46k to start w/ no masters… 51.4k w/ one… ahahah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > yankees98a Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > needhelp Wrote: > > > -------------------------------------------------- > > > ----- > > > How much does an elementary school teacher > make > > in > > > NYC? > > > > > > 50k + they get a pension, summers off (they can > > work the summer for O/T), and good hrs > > SOLD! If anyone is actually interested in applying to this job email me and I’ll email you the link. Chad tends to go nucular on people who mention other websites on AF.

average salary NY, NY 53k. http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-Elementary+School+Teacher/l-New+York,+NY

average portfolio manager: 80k average trader: 78k average investment banker: 73k average accountant: 58k http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-portfolio+manager/l-New+York%2C+NY http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-trader/l-New+York%2C+NY http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-investment+banker/l-New+York%2C+NY http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-accountant/l-New+York%2C+NY Conclusion: either a) everyone should drop whatever work they’re doing and become elementary school teachers or b) online salary data has a huge margin of error and doesn’t mean sh!t

Median is a better measure.

you can prolly make more in unemployment

Lol, that’s what I was thinking. I’d like to apply to, just curious to see why they only pay $30K.

They are probably only offering $30K because the dumb-ass git fund managers who run this turd locked themselves into high expenses when they had $1b aum. With the fees from $50m aum they can probably just cover the mortgage on their macmansions.

I dunno. I don’t see this the 30k as a huge turn off. I have to be honest, I’m interested. Unfortunately I have no IB experience. I would love to break in to IB and if this is what’d I’d have to do then I would be game. I do have the capital though to be ok in NYC for awhile. Also, pending I do my due diligence to see whether the firm can legitimately make it, I see it as a good opportunity to help build the firm back up. This way you’re actually making a difference and can share in more of the gains.

I bet you even if you don’t have the 2 years of IB experience if you sell a good story about your background these guys will probably listen.
