L3 Motivation

Hi Guys, need motivation for L3. Was registered for Jun-2020 which got postponed to Dec-2020 which later got cancelled. I enrolled for May-2021 but have lost my motivation. I have sort of completed all chapters from CFAI text + EOC (except Ethics and 1 chapter each from Equity and Alternative Investments) once. Have started my round 2 but really low on motivation (moderate personal + professional commitments currently)

PLEASE MOTIVATE ME !!!

I failed the exam and felt like s***t for 2 weeks and remourse feelings are still present… And yet, I have to restudy it all over again. Do you want this for yourself as well?

Thanks @Toto_11

Anytime  Trust me, this is not a place you want to be in in 2-3 months. Finish this and go enjoy your life. I would give anything I was done with it, but life obviously didn’t work like this for me.

how close were you to the passing line?

i failed l3 before. i was in vegas when i foudn out i think. cant remmebr really but i made a snapchat getting lit while saying i failed. literally did not give 2 shits i failed. normally my worries start 3 months prior to the test when i actually give up one day in the weekend. on the last month, i become a hermit and cram. after taking the test, im just happy i dont have to worry about this for another 9 mos if i fail. usually i replace my study time with new goals. like getting abs.

Imagine yourself in Vegas a week before the exam. Don’t know why hut every time I think Vegas “The Hangover” movie pops up in my head with Alan’s face. Some guy… some adventure.

The same here, no motivation to study further. However, recently took one mock exam without refreshing the material, scored 69%. Realized may be some curriculum thing is still in my mind and I don’t have to go through everything again.
You should try solving Mock too, the good score may give you motivation.

Thanks @dasstienn . Did you finish studying few months back ?

Same boat and let me tell you something cause you don’t know nothing. You don’t need motivation, you need discipline. Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what your worth!

On a serious note, do practice questions non stop, way easier to get into than reading, you’ll engage a whole lot more and dare I say enjoy it at times. Mock till you drop etc… Good luck :call_me_hand:

Do you want your life back? Or study some new material when the curriculum refreshes and start from scratch again?

enough said.

Haha thanks @Tez4715 :grinning:

Thanks @PoisonPut !!! That thought IS SCARRYY !!

I got chills reading this… Jeez that’s some motivation ahah

If I recall correctly, I stopped preparing in early-mid October 2020, when second cancellation was announced. Got back to Mocks around two weeks ago. Briefly went through flEsh-cards.
Scored well above group average on 2 MM mocks (PM), however s*cked on 1 AM (because didn’t try hard on this).
What I can say, I really memorized some of the formulas using different (easier)approach. For instance:

Taylor rule: put inflation and GDP with e (expected) first than minus with t (target, trend) in parentheses. smth like this.

No offence - you rely on formulas for L3?

I just posted it as an example of things that I couldn’t memorize during my prep year ago vs how now I found a way to do it.
Despite they don’t appear a lot in questions, don’t you think that getting additional scores on calculation questions bc you know the correct formulas can’t hurt you? Or you are advising to neglect formulas?

Well to each his/her own. Personally, I never relied on Formulas let alone memorisation. My take is if you understand the basics underlying the formula then you actually do not need to memorise formulas. And that is precisely how I can recall most of them. Granted, there are a few esoteric, exotic ones that beat me and I have to stress upon my grey matter but for the most part, I don’t.

Specifically about L3, I think the Institute in a way dissuades you from formula regurgitation. The CBT 2021 and beyond is pretty clear in that.

Please don’t take it as an affront of sort. It might be shock to some because everyone’s style differs. I just stated mine that may contrast others.
