So what? Why does it matter who chopped off your balls? Regarding military spending, most countries spend like 1% of GDP on their military. Japan has “domestic defense forces” or some sht like that, which is basically a military. They just can’t do anything. So, I don’t think the economic success of Germany or Japan relied on non-spending on military.

Who knows what % of their GDP would have gone to their military if we hadn’t put restrictions on it? Particularly in Germany’s case. They did have a nasty habit of going to war…with the entire world. So I’d say nipping that in the bud helped direct them towards more prosperous ventures.
But apparently the ability to pound your chest and say how manly you are is better than growing your economy significantly without he need of massive military industrial complex spending that gives very little back to your countries citizens. HA! So stupid germany and japan!
