One of my former students (whom I like) has sought my assistance with getting a job since he is graduating this coming May. However, he has a felony. What sort of professional jobs hire felons?
^What kind of felony? How long ago?
If it’s assault and battery from eight years ago (he was 18 and beat the crap out of someone who pissed him off), that’s much different than if he was guilty of embezzlement, fraud, forgery, and obstruction of justice just last year.
Drug charge at 18. He’s 25 now.
What degree did he graduate with?
“There, but for the grace of God, go I.”
I can’t speak for the BSD’s like Itera, but personally, I don’t think that’s a big deal. My boss was a pothead when he was younger, and I could very easily have a felony from my younger days.
What does it take to get a felony drug conviction?
I don’t know what he had, but dealing/possessing hard stuff beyond marijuana can get you a felony pretty quick.
He’ll have a BS in Management from a community college I taught at last year.
^ You can get a BS from a community college? I thought CC’s awarded associates degrees.
I don’t want to give away where I taught, but it was one of those for profit joints that advertises heavily. AA or BS were both available.
Anything finance/banking/financial services is likely off the table. I would think something in manufacturing at a private company would be doable. I’ve visited plenty of clients who have fairly significant manufacturing facilities and members of management often seemed as if they could have had interesting pasts.
As an interviewer I’d want to know if he ever had his sh*t pushed in. That changes a man irreparably.
Tell him to look into “ban the box” laws.
Work at a hotel in Vegas. Work his way up to management. They don’t care about drug charges.
plumber madafukers
Yeah, plumber is the best possible outcome.
In fact, they probably prefer drug charges
There are some companies whose names I forgot, what they do is hire ex-junkes,drug dealers and the like to go around doing workshops and stuff.I am pretty sure he can land something there
i vote plumber
One trader in my firm is an ex felon. I’m not sure why he was in jail, that is, whether it was a securities law violation or something else.
If I was a BSD like Itera, I’d demand that my Top 2 firm to allow me a personal security allowance. I’d then hire the most thuggish ruggish brotha to hold it down for me, no homo. Felons would be preferred.
