It’s true that we men often make mistakes when we assume women are dressing to impress us. Just as often (or more so) they are dressing to impress each other, and often in ways that don’t impress us men.
That said, often times, grabbing the hottest girl isn’t always about how awesome she herself is (the value added in pure appearance pleasure definitely has diminishing returns). Often times, I suspect we are looking for the hot girl to impress our male competitors (and the self confidence it inspires that we are able to attract someone who assuredly gets offers all the time from countless others).
I second that! H&M is terrible! I would rather have a closet with just a few pieces that are of high quality and fit than a crazy closet STUFFED which cheap, random, and sloppy crap. I’ll spend $100-$300 on each key item in my wardrobe but I only have about 10-15 items for each season. They all intermix very well and of course were highly vetted for fit.
Ok. Maybe my example was wrong. All I meant is that as far as looks are concerned, I’ve been impressed with how many women can make what is ultimately a cheap thing really flatter them with a little creativity.
Maybe it’s because I came to the dressing game late, but it’s a talent, and while I’m not completely clueless, most women play at a completely different level.
In general, the pricier stuff tends to look nicer, though.
There are some minute details that most men can’t distinguish between the pricier stuff and bootleg brands like Zara. I would never notice if my wife hasn’t pointed out. I still think the premium is stupid on those things but it is somewhat of a bragging right to her girlfriends and other women.
I don’t know why but I really hate North Face, like when you see the fat middle aged men decked out in it head to toe or the loud middle american family all wearing matching jackets. fannies
